Technology - Chop Suey πŸ›πŸΉ

Kia Ora and Greetings to you all here is another blog of mine from technology. Last week on Thursday we had technology I am still in cooking and
we made Chop Suey. I had buddied up with Syraiah-Lee.

WALT: Learn How To Make Chop Suey

The ingredients you need to make this dish are:
- Vermicelli noodles
- Red Capsicum
- Broccoli
- Carrots
- Onion
- Rice
- Cabbage
- Soil Sauce
- Salt
- Meat

I already knew how to make this dish because I help my mum make it and so I knew what to do but some of the ingredients our cooking teacher told us to put in, me and my family didn't put in which was a little weird but it did turn out yum.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Something I learnt on Thursday is that everyone makes Chop Suey different to how me and my family make it.

Something I need to improve on is to stop going to look at my friends food and to stay at my kitchen.

Something I enjoyed was getting to eat the food when we finished making it.

Here is a photo of what our food looked like when we finished...

Maths πŸ™‹‍♀πŸ‘©‍πŸ’Ό

WALT: Round And Compensate πŸ™‍♀πŸ’

Today for maths we continued on doing rounding and compensating. Our teacher Ms. Aireen didn't teach us today so we were sent a google slide that had maths work we had to finish off.

I am really enjoying maths this term and I am really getting use to rounding and compensating.

Something I think I could work on is not telling people the answer and let them figure it out themselves because if I keep telling them the answer they wouldn't know how they got the answer because I told them.

Something I enjoyed was getting my answers right when I went to a teacher to check them and solving the problems. Related image

Kiwi Sports - Ki O Rahi πŸ’¨πŸ€Ύ‍♀

WHLT: Play Ki O Rahi
Today was the last Ki O Rahi session we had with our coach Puiti. She has taught us how to play Ki O Rahi, I enjoyed playing Ki O Rahi today and all the other times we got to play.

Playing Ki O Rahi is very fun but also exhausting. I would recommend this game for people who like running because when you play this game you are required to run a lot.

Tastes Of The World India And Greece 🍽πŸ₯‚

A few weeks ago the Kia Manawanui syndicate were given a book to read and make a DLO about. The class got different book, mines called Tastes of the world India and Greece.

India...
India is a country that loves flavouring their food by using spice. There's ginger, turmeric, cumin, chili and so many more others. In  north India bread is more common than rice. Meals are served with flatbreads called chapati. These breads are rolled thin and cooked on a hot metal plate but if they were made a little thicker and filled with spicy vegetables.

Greece...
Greece is a country that is crazy about herbs. In greece herbs grow wild in Greek mountains, such as...dill, thyme, sage, rosemary & oregano. Wild herbs can be found growing in the mountains. Herbs are used in Greek cooking to flavour vegetables and meat stews. They also go well with fish, beans & lentils.

Herbs might be important in the food of Greece but its olive oil that hold the flavour together. Herbs and olive oil are important ingredients in spanakopita, spanakopita is one of Greeces national dishes. Spanakopita traditional Greek pie. Its filled with salty feta cheese, wild greens ( similar to spinach ) and a lot of dill. It's all held together with egg and olive oil. THe filling is wrapped in pastry made from flour and olive oil.

Science 🌑⚗

WALA: Science
Today we had a guest ( Sarah ) come in and tell us about science. I really enjoyed starting on the real science project and I am excited to do the steps it takes to get the project done.

Something I learnt was science is not just about expostions
Something I think I could work on is listening more to the person speaking

Maths - Rounding And Compensating ➗➕

WALT: Round And Compensate

Today we did do rounding and compensating again. Today we were given maths questions that some of us already done before and I was one of those people, so I knew what the answer was and how to solve it.

Here is the LINK to my work.

Maths - Rounding And Compensating ➖✖

WALT: Round And Compensate
Last week with Ms. Aireen we were learning how to round and compensate. We were given a maths problem and had to solve it.

Another thing I learnt was you can only round up or down to a tidy number such as 10, 20, 30, 40 etc. And also if you are rounding up to a number in the beginning you always have to subtract in the end to get your answer, and if you are subtracting in the beginning then you have to multiply in the end.

I enjoyed doing this task because I got to learn something new about maths, and I am still learning more about rounding and compensating but I really enjoyed doing this maths problem.

My Role Model

Here is my DLO of who my role model is...I choose my dad as my role model, If you read my work you will know why.

WALT: Write about our role models

A role model who inspires me is my dad. Because he is a Caring, Protective and Supportive man who I love and appreciate. My dad has been there for me and supported me since day one.

My father is a caring man who loves and cares about his family. My dad has always provided for our family and makes sure when we have food in the cupboards and fridge.

My dad goes out and works to make sure his family is fed and have lunch for school. He is someone I know how works hard for his kids and family to keep them happy.

I am very grateful to have a dad because some kids don’t have parents which is very sad but I am very grateful for having my dad apart of my life one of those reasons is because if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be here so I appreciate all the love and hard work he puts into our family.

Having a caring dad is awesome because he won’t let you go places where he know you will be in danger or in trouble.

My dad is a very protective man when it comes to his kids. I do like that fact that he is protective with us.

Unlike some other parents they let their kids do whatever they want but my dad knows where I will be safe and where I wouldn’t, for instance if my friends ask my dad if I’m allowed to go to the shopping mall with no adult supervisor he would say no because he knows that, that is a risk of putting me in danger.

Sometimes it does get out of hand with my dad being to overprotective but I know he just wants me to be safe so I listen to him and don’t go.

Having a protective dad is a good thing for me because they will know when to say no to places my friend would want to go with me or where I would want to go also.

Another reason why my dad is a role model to me is because he is very supportive throughout the decisions I make.

If they are bad decisions and he knows I will get in trouble or in danger he wouldn’t let me do it because that’s putting me in danger which he doesn’t want.

For example if I wanted to go to Edge water college he would be supportive but he would tell me what better colleges I could go to so that I can get a good education.
* I’m not saying Edge Water is a bad college, I just used Edge Water college as an example as it says in my paragraph three.

Having a supportive dad is amazing because they will support you and the decisions you make. And he inspires me to be a supportive friend, family member or even a mum for in the future if I have kids.

Overall I look up to my dad because he is a caring, protective and supportive parent that I am very grateful to have. My dad has made my life easier and for that I love an appreciate him and all the hard work he has done for me.

The Desert Kaupoi

A few days ago we read a journal about a war that happened in 1914. The journal was called The Desert Kaupoi.
Related image
I think this story is based on a man named Tony, who fought at war. Tony had joined the army for the first time. Before Tony became part of the army
he was in a Maori Waiata choir. Tony's first mission was to locate the enemy's position. This information was sent to those who are in charge so that they
could plan where and when to attack.

On September 1942, two of Tony's men were hit by the enemy's first machine gun fire of the day. Tony was hit by a machine gun it was so powerful it
knocked him over and also brew off Tony's left arm. In his fury he threw his arm at the machine gun post.

I think they made a journal about Tony's story of him being at war because his family wanted others to know how brave he was to risk his life by going to war for New Zealand.

Something I learnt from reading this journal was...He was a strong man who took part in the army for New Zealand and that he was very a very brave man.

My Goals πŸ†

Today we had to do a DLO on our goals we made for ourselves and how we are going to achieve them. We had to trace out our hand on a paper and write our goals on the fingers, After we did that we had to draw and colour symbols and pictures that related to our goals and how we could achieve them.

I have made a DLO of some of my goals I want to achieve this year. My five goals I set for myself are...Try finish off work on time, Improve in maths, Build up my confidence, Sit with people who won't distract mea and join all sports this year.
