IALT: Reflect about 2018

Term 1-Self defence👀

In term 1 one of the things we did was self-defence. Our teachers name for self-defence was Julie, she was very kind and helpful to us. 

She showed us how to protect our self if we are walking alone somewhere or if someone tries to attack us.

I enjoyed learning other ways I could protect myself while I'm walking somewhere. I learnt that it is not safe to walk by yourself no matter where you are going.

Term 2-Camp🏕   

In term 2 we went camp raglan. Camp raglan was the best trip I have ever been on at Tamaki Primary. 

At camp we got to do so many things like...Abseiling, kayaking, archery, team building, high ropes confidence course, fia fia night, Low ropes confidence course, movie night, orienteering, Rifle range ( shooting ), Swimming, Waingaro pools and Zumba.  

My favourite activity we did would have to be the high ropes confidence course because it was very fun and a little challenging which I enjoyed.

Camp has really made me more confident and open. Camp has been a very joyful and amazing time.

Term 3-Natural Disasters🌋 

In term 3 we were discovering heaps of facts about natural disasters and what they can do to our community. 

I have learnt that the most 7 dangerous natural disasters are...

- Earth quakes

- Hurricanes
- Tsunamis
- Lightning
- Tornados
- Volcanic eruption
- Landslides  

Natural disasters can affect our lives and are very dangerous to everyone.

Term 4-Parakai Springs🏊🏼‍♂️ 

This term one thing I enjoyed going to was parakai springs. I have been to parakai heaps of times with my family so I knew where everything was. 

There is an in side pools and a outside pool. The inside pools is a hot pool and is for relaxing and you need to make sure you are quiet so we aren't distracting or annoying other people that are trying to relax. The out side pools is cold and is for any one to just have fun and you don't have to be quiet.

I enjoyed going on both slides one of the slides were bigger than the other but I didn't like how we had to go up the rack to get to the slide because it took a while and was exhausting but for me it was worth it.

I am most proud of how much confident I have become throughout the year.

Who/What had the biggest positive impact on your life? 
Someone that has the biggest positive impact out of my friend at my school is Monita. I have picked Monita because she has been a great friend and is always checking up on me and encourages me. She is one person I do not want to lose contact with. 

Last Week 🗃

This morning the Kia Manawanui syndicate were taking down our work that we did this year off the wall because it is almost the end of the year.(Just 4 more days and then woohoo we finished)

Me and some friends wanted to take down the photos because we wanted to take some home for memories and I have heaps of photos. All the photos that were on the wall were photos from camp.

We didn't take long to take down the things off the walls. After we did that we went outside to play netball or rugby and I choose netball so I don't get injured if I play.

  

Turning Old Into New

WALT: Use our analysing skills to identify key ideas.

This morning I have been working on a presentation with one of my friends Bianna. 

We were sent a presentation that had questions on it that we had to answer and were related to a text we also revived.The text was called "Turning Old Into New".

This text is about recycling and what our clothes are made from.

Something I have enjoyed...
I enjoyed answering the questions with my buddy and reading the interesting facts in the text.

Something I disliked...
I didn't like how there were lots of texts.  
     

Technology

Today only the hard materials had technology because the other class teachers weren't there. I got to go technology because I am in hard materials. For technology I have done everything but the box, I decided to make a whale tale, my necklace looks like this...

Today was the last day we go to technology this year. I found it a little challenging because it was my first time doing it and I took a little longer on the steps/stages. 

The teacher I had this term was Mr.Grundy. 

My favorite part about the necklace I made:

My favourite thing I like about it is that I was the one who made it not anyone else.

Something I dislike about my necklace:  

I don't like how I took a long time on the stages of making the necklace, because if I did it faster I could of made a box for my necklace but now I don't really mind.    

BOOM! SPLASH!..the rain came to visit, 

It comes and goes and gets stronger and stronger. 

Out of nowhere it started pouring hailstones they looked like white frozen peas, it sounds like as if a tap was dripping heavily. 

The hailstones were followed by a loud BANG! out came thunder with its frightening sounds. 
        

Athletics🏆🥇

Athletics🏆🥇

Athletics was held on Friday the 16th of November 2018, this event happened on the T.P.S field, this athletics event was held for the students of Tamaki Primary School. On Friday it was a very hot and sunny day, it was so hot people got sun burnt ☀.

Tamaki Primary School were selling ice-blocks and sausage sizzles, the ice-blocks were $1 and the sausage sizzles were $2. throughout the day people keep getting ice-blocks and sausage sizzles for themselves and their family. 

 

The field events that happened on Friday were...standing jump, long jump, high jump, shot put and discuss. The distance's of how far we ran were 50m, 100m, 75m & 400m. 

I enjoyed, trying my best because when I did I always came 1st and so I tried to keep trying.

 I disliked, how my legs, thighs and feet got sore from the races I had but I didn't really mind because it was worth it another thing I didn't enjoy was losing my voice from yelling our team chants although that was also worth it.

The activitys I enjoyed doing the most was Running, long jump and high jump.

I know I showed the school values because...

• I was participating in all events
• I was showing good sportsmanship
• I was cheering on my team and other teams
• I was being a positive team member
• I was putting effort into everything I did

Maths

WALT: Add & subtract decimals and learn how to read decimals

Today we did maths, for maths we have been given a maths worksheet we all have to fill out. I found a few of the first questions easy but as I answered them the questions started to get harder and harder. When the questions were getting harder I actually enjoyed it a little because I wasn't doing stuff I already knew how to do I was challenging myself and I felt that was something I needed.

This morning a lady named Treena came to our school, to teach us about argumentation for a game we are going to be playing.

 She was talking to us about native animals and pest and how pest are predators to native animals. She talked to us about that and a few other things then when she was done talking she told us to write a comment based on if we disagree or agree if pest should be in our country New Zealand I partly disagreed and agreed because I partly disagreed because if we have pest they will kill all our native animals and I partly agreed because I think if we treat them like how we would treat our pets maybe that will change their was of behaving. 

I enjoyed having my own say of what I think.
I didn't really enjoy reading but I thought it was still interesting.  

 

Manaiakalani Film Festival

Manaiakalani Film Festival!

WALT: Reflect about our Manaiakalani Film Festival.

Today the Kia Manawanui syndicate buddied up with room 4&5. My little buddy was Tashan, All of Tamaki Primary School went to sylvia park hoyts to watch the Manaiakalani school clusters movies they made. We waited for roughly around 5 minutes in get into the theatre. My favorite movie we watched would have to be one of Pt. England's because I found it sort of funny.         

Kiwi Sport ( Flag FootBall )🏈

Today half of the Kia Manawanui syndicate had kiwi sport. 🏈🏆🥇

Our Kiwi sport coaches were Karl and Will. They showed us how to hold the football properly. After we got the hang of holding the ball we had to get into 4 lines and throw the ball to the people across from us. Then it started to rain so we went in the hall and continued playing. Later on we had a actually game but since the hall was smaller than the field we had to have 3 on each team and to be careful.  

I really enjoyed playing flag football and would do it again. recommend it for the age of 7 and up.  

  

Technological World

WALA: Our technological world

Today the Kia Manawanui syndicate had a task to finish up on and it is about technological world. We got in group of 4 and picked a topic is research and write about, that topic is Cars. 

Something I found challenging while doing this task was finding information about the cars then compared to the cars now. 

I enjoyed researching about the cars because I got to learn something new.

Abstract Art

WAL: What abstract art is

Yesterday, the Kia Manawanui syndicate have been learning about abstract art. Abstract art involves Texture, shape, colour and creativity. 

We are learning about abstract because next week we will be going to Te Tuhi and the stuff we will be doing at Te Tuhi will be related to abstract art.

The type of technology that is used when doing abstract art: Ruler, Pencil and a Compass.

My First Blog Relfection For Term 4 2018

Hello, Welcome back to my blog. Today I am going to be talking about 2 things I did in the holiday.

In the holidays I went to my uncle's house for a BBQ, I saw a few of my cousin's and their parents. While the adults were getting the BBQ ready the kids were snacking on cakes, cupcakes, garlic bread, lollies, chocolate milk shakes and fizzy. When the BBQ was ready everyone got a plate or bowl, fork and made them a plate of food. After everyone was done eating we went home to get ready to go to a fight night, one of my uncle's got all of our family V.I.P tables, for V.I.P you get food, drinks and a  better view of the fights. I had a great night that night.  

Another thing I did in the holidays was going to my little cousins 2nd birthday, his name is Daniel. Me and my family got him 2 presents, they were a small bouncy ball and Teddy bear. The birthday was fun because I got to eat yum food and I got to see him on his birthday.

NETBALL🏐

IALT: Be A Better Player At Netball

2 weeks ago the year 7&8's had to do trials for Netball because there were heaps of people wanting to join, but unfortunately the coach could only pick 10 people out of 20. The students that got picked were Edith, Grace, Me, Constance, Cerenity, Akanesi, Tevita, Demetrius, Toma & Aumau. I was pretty sad that my other friends didn't get picked but I was happy for me and my other friends that did make it. Instead of having Netball training during lunch and morning tea we have it after school on some days. Our tournament is coming up, next week Wednesday and I am so excited.

Maori Language

This morning our kapa haka tutors came into our class to teach us some Maori. Their names were Matua Andre and Chanel. They told us to find a partner and make our own Maori conversation, after a while they started picking people to go up and have a conversation, me and my partner were not picked but that was okay because it was cool seeing other kids go up and have a conversation with their friends. When that was done we were given a folder that had papers and we had to get one and pass the folder on, on the paper there was a haka in Maori and we had to make actions and a beat. Unfortunately we didn't make it through the whole haka. The other group that were going to come after us were gonna have to learn that and our beat we did.

What didn't you like about the it?
I don't  think I didn't enjoy anything because every part of it was fun for me.
What did you enjoy about it?    
I enjoyed learning the haka because I have never heard it and it was fun to learn.
         

My Pepha

WALT: Speak Te reo Maori saying a pepeha. 

Yesterday we had to fill out a pepeha. After we filled out the pepeha we all had to make a DLO and put what was on the paper on the DLO, when we did the DLO we had to make a screencastify of us saying it, and I have finished both of those things.

What I found Challenging?

I found some of the questions challenging like what my waka and maunga-mountain is.   

What I Liked About Doing The Pepeha? 

I enjoyed filling out my pepeha because I know some of it.   

BFG

What Now!

What Now!

Tomorrow on Sunday 19th What Now is going to be coming to my school Tamaki Primary, On this day everyone that is coming to gonna have to come early ( 7:00am ). As you guys know I was one of the students that went to Cross Country to represent my school and some of the What Now people thought it was nice to ask the Cross Country team if we would like to take part in their Class Of The Codes Team Challenge live on t.v. On Friday there was a school assembly and just before the assembly ended our deputy principal told the Cross Country team to go to her when the assembly ends because she was going to give us notices about the challenges we are gonna do. We are meant to come to school pretty early in the morning, we have to see one of our sport teachers at 7:00am, I think me, my dad and sister might go for a walk if we wake up before 6:00am but I'm gonna ask my dad if I can go to school at 6:30am because I don't want to be late for the meeting the Cross Country team are having. I was told by a friend that we are going to be versing Pt. Engleng school, I am actually pretty excited to be versing them at our school. I really do encourage my readers to watch What Now in the morning.
